🐄 Welcome to Fen Farm Dairy – Artisan Dairy Excellence in Suffolk! 🧀🥛

Fen Farm Dairy is a family-run third-generation dairy farm in Bungay, Suffolk, where passion, tradition, and sustainability come together to create world-class dairy products.

Nestled in the fertile Waveney River Valley, our Montbéliarde cows roam freely on lush marshland pastures, producing some of the finest raw milk, cheeses, and butter in the UK. Our signature Baron Bigod cheese—a creamy, brie-style delight—has become a favorite of top chefs and even royalty.

We believe in farm-to-table freshness, and our commitment to sustainability means that we control every step of the process: from growing our own forage to crafting artisan cheeses by hand just meters from the milking parlour.

At Fen Farm Dairy, we are proud to offer:
🧀 Award-winning cheeses – including Baron Bigod & Rædwald
🥛 Raw milk & cultured dairy products – straight from our happy cows
🥖 Artisan breads & locally made produce – supporting small producers
🌱 Eco-friendly dairy farming – pioneering low-impact, sustainable agriculture

Q 🥛 What makes Fen Farm Dairy's milk and cheese so special?

We follow a "three secrets" approach to crafting our exceptional dairy:
1️⃣ Control: We grow our own forage, care for every cow individually, and protect our milk’s natural goodness from start to finish.
2️⃣ Proximity: Our fresh milk is turned into cheese & butter within hours—never transported long distances.
3️⃣ Gentleness: We gravity-feed milk from the parlour to the making rooms, avoiding harsh machinery. Our products are handmade, never industrially processed.

This hands-on, traditional approach results in dairy products bursting with natural flavour and rich, creamy textures.

Q 🥛 What is raw milk, and is it safe to drink?

Raw milk is unpasteurised, unprocessed milk, packed with natural nutrients, beneficial bacteria, and full creamy flavour. Our Montbéliarde cows produce milk perfectly suited to cheesemaking and naturally high in protein & healthy fats.

Is it safe?
Yes! We follow strict hygiene and quality controls, ensuring that our raw milk is clean, fresh, and safe to drink. However, it’s not recommended for those with weakened immune systems or during pregnancy.

Q 🧀 What is Baron Bigod cheese?

Baron Bigod is our signature soft, bloomy-rind cheese, similar to a traditional French Brie de Meaux. Handmade with raw milk, it has a:
🥛 Silky, buttery texture
🌰 Rich, nutty flavour with earthy undertones
🧀 Deliciously gooey centre when ripe

It’s served in top restaurants, loved by Michelin-star chefs, and even enjoyed by British royalty.

Q 🧀 What is Rædwald cheese? (Limited Edition!)

Our Rædwald cheese is a seasonal Reblochon-style cheese, made only in winter using the richest, creamiest milk of the year.

🌲 Named after the Anglo-Saxon King Rædwald, this cheese is perfect for melting, cooking, or enjoying on its own.

📅 Available January – April only!

Q ♻️ Is Fen Farm Dairy eco-friendly?

Yes! We are pioneering sustainable dairy farming, using:
🌞 Solar battery storage for renewable energy
💨 Biogas from cow manure to heat our cheesemaking facility
🌱 Circular farming methods to nourish our land and protect biodiversity

Our goal is to become carbon-negative, proving that dairy farming can be part of the solution, not the problem.
